Brookfield isn’t a one-water-source town. The center and north end get water through the Sanitary District, while homes in the southern part of town and other outlying areas rely on private wells. That split means we can’t treat every Brookfield call the same way, and we don’t.
Well water here also comes with its own quirks. Local health officials recommend testing new wells for uranium because of naturally higher radionuclide levels found in many Brookfield wells. It’s not something to panic over, but it’s a good reason to get your water tested if you haven’t, especially if you’re buying a home or noticing a change in taste or color.
